The Rev. J. Lynn White
On
Wednesday, February 10 at 3:10 p.m. the Workshop "I Love to Tell the Story" will deal with the idea that Biblical narratives were written for oral performance, rather than silent reading. The Network of Biblical Storytellers is an ecumenical organization that is committed to helping everyone learn and tell biblical stories. In this way, the oral tradition of scripture finds new expression in our post-literate, post-modern culture. This workshop will explore biblical storytelling as a spiritual discipline that has a number of implications for ministry. This workshop will take an experiential approach, including the opportunity to learn a biblical story through a process that includes
"internalizing" rather than "memorizing" the story and exploring both its original and current meanings. Various resources available through the Network of Biblical Storytellers will also be presented.
J. Lynn White is a biblical storyteller who has led biblical storytelling ministries in various church settings for the past eighteen years. He holds a B.A. from Transylvania University and D.Min. from Lexington Theological Seminary.
