EXPECT HOPE: CREATING THE KINGDOM OF GOD
A Day-by-Day Online Advent Calendar

New York, November 17, 2009 – Advent is a season of expectation and hope as Christians around the globe anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ birth. In that spirit, Trinity Wall Street has created an online daily Advent calendar that reveals a new story of hope each day based on activities and stories from the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion. Expect Hope: Creating the Kingdom of God uses music, video, photography, scripture, and more to tell the stories of how dioceses and parishes are bringing hope to local communities and around the world. Story highlights include:

  • A day in the life of a member of the Episcopal Urban Intern Program in Los Angeles.
  • The story of the community health program Clínica Esperanza y Caridad, a health ministry of la Iglesia Episcopal Dominicana.
  • The story of a congregation in the reorganized Diocese of Fort Worth who lost their church building and decided to focus on feeding 5,000 people by December of this year.
  • Gloria Cruz, founder of the Bronx chapter of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence.
  • Trinity Wall Street’s Brown Bag Lunch Program which provides food to the community.
  • Journalist Ray Suarez discussing the theme "Expect Hope."
  • A video message from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, about the importance of the church in developing countries.
Each daily story will also include a "flip" option for scripture and music. The calendar will launch on November 29, 2009 and run through December 25, 2009.
