Ladders for New Orleans
On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made her way through the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama. In her wake, she also did major damage to the Ninth Ward of New Orleans. Four years later, there are still recovery efforts and they need our help.
How can you help? By donating to the efforts of purchasing ladders. We have been able to work out a deal with Lowe’s that will get us a 10% discount. We will purchase the ladders here locally and the Episcopal Community Service of Louisiana will pick them up there. This will save us the cost of shipping the ladders so that we are able to purchase more ladders.
What will this do? This will provide ladders for the volunteer relief workers to paint and do repair work to the homes. The homeowners have run out of insurance and Road Home money, but still need some work done before they can move back into their homes.
How do you donate? You may donate cash or checks to this effort. Checks should be made out to The Episcopal Diocese of Ft. Worth with “Ladders for New Orleans” in the memo line. Donations may also be sent to the Diocesan office at: The Episcopal Diocese of Ft. Worth 3550 Southwest Loop 820, Fort Worth, TX 76133. The deadline to submit these donations is September 16, 2009.
Thank you for your help and support in this Diocesan wide mission.
