St. Stephens-Hurst at work
by Thomas Squiers

St. Stephen's, Hurst, has been busy working at the Union Gospel Mission in Fort Worth. The Outreach Committee assisted two clients who live at the mission by painting and decorating their living quarters there.

The Union Gospel Mission provides living quarters on their site to particular individuals and then assists them in making transition into a permanent residence once the client is ready to do so. There is no limit on timeframe when the transition is to take place.

"We had fun painting the rooms. Knowing that we were helping two people out and making them feel better about their surroundings was an equal blessing to all of us," Jason Tardiff, Outreach Committee Chairperson said.

The paint used was donated by Sherwin-Williams in Fort Worth. Some other items were donated by Outreach Committee members, but most items were purchased separately. All items that were placed as part of the decor will be taken with the client when each is ready to transition into a permanent dwelling.

St. Stephen's has been very active working in the greater community, including assisting with meal preparation at Ronald McDonald House, taking up personal products at the Women's Shelter, and providing gift cards to supply the Rector's discretionary fund (to aid those in extreme/immediate need).
