NetsforLife® Inspiration Fund Matching Gift Challenge Doubles All Donations through May 25
Beginning in Lent and continuing through May 25, donors have the opportunity to make their dollars go even further toward fighting malaria in Africa. During this period, any donation made to the NetsforLife® Inspiration Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $430,000, thanks to a group of generous Episcopal Relief & Development donors. Church on Oregon Coast Responds to Damage from Japanese Tsunami
[March 24, 2011] On March 11, a massive earthquake struck off the coast near the Japanese city
of Sendai, triggering a tsunami that devastated large parts of northeastern Japan and spread across
the Pacific Ocean. Half a day later, and nearly 5,000 miles away, the tsunami wave reached the port town of
Brookings, Oregon, smashing boats and destroying the commercial fishing docks.

Church of Sudan Builds Peace, Serves Returning Refugees During Country's Transition
During the week of January 9, Southern Sudanese living throughout the country and even overseas
cast their ballots in a historic referendum to decide whether the South would secede. This referendum was
the culmination of the five-year Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), which marked the official end of the
country's decades-long civil war.

Episcopal Relief & Development Responds to Ice Storm in the Dakotas
On January 20, the Episcopal Dioceses of North and South Dakota were affected by a devastating ice
storm and subsequent blizzard that left more than 14,000 people without power or access to clean water.
In the wake of this disaster, Episcopal Relief & Development has responded to requests for emergency
aid from the Dioceses of North and South Dakota.

Assistance to Earthquake Survivors Continues
Over two weeks since the 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti on January 12, the scope of the death and
destruction is staggering. The most recent estimates indicate that roughly 200,000 deaths and 194,000
injuries have occurred. At least one million people have been left homeless and in need of temporary shelter.

Episcopal Relief & Development Responds to Devastating Earthquake in Haiti
Shortly before sundown on Tuesday, January 12, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Haiti. The
quake was centered about ten miles west of Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. At least 28 aftershocks
of magnitude 4.0 or greater shook the country in the hours immediately following the quake.

Episcopal Relief & Development Responds to Natural Disaster in El Salvador
On November 7th and 8th, El Salvador was hit by severe weather caused by a low-pressure system in the
Ocean related to Hurricane Ida. Receiving nearly 12 inches of rain in six hours, the nation was affected
by widespread flooding and mudslides. The death toll currently stands at 194, with 80 people still missing.
